Kathryn Tong is Operating Advisor, Portfolio Growth & Value Creation at Pharos Capital Group, working with the firm’s leadership and portfolio company management teams to accelerate growth and create enterprise value across the healthcare portfolio. Her work spans commercial strategy, new product and service development, strategic partnerships, payer and government strategy, revenue and pricing model design, and expansion into new markets. She also leads the firm’s government affairs and policy engagement.

Ms. Tong is also Founder and CEO of Sapphire Health Advisory, where she advises healthcare investors, growth-stage companies, payers, and risk-bearing provider organizations on growth strategy, value-based care, government affairs, and capital formation. Most recently, she served as Chief Commercial Officer of Mom’s Meals, a leading food-as-medicine organization serving Medicaid and Medicare Advantage populations, where she led enterprise growth across commercial strategy, product, marketing, business development, and government affairs.

A healthcare executive with more than 25 years of experience across the payer, provider, and private equity sectors, Ms. Tong has held senior leadership roles at UnitedHealth Group and Optum, where she led multi-state Medicaid growth and secured $88 million in state contracts; at US Renal Care, a Bain Capital portfolio company, where she helped build a nearly $1 billion value-based care platform aligning more than 300 physicians to full-risk models; and at McKesson/US Oncology, where she led payer strategy across one of the nation’s largest oncology networks and reduced total cost of care by 10–15%. She is known for aligning clinical models, provider incentives, payer economics, and public policy to translate strategy into measurable enterprise value.

Ms. Tong earned an MBA in Health Care Management from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Political Science from Swarthmore College. She serves on the Board of Advisors for Paloma Health and is active with the Wharton Healthcare Alumni Association and The Addis Clinic. She is based in Nashville, Tennessee.
