Tribal Health Announces Telepsychiatry Services

Scottsdale, AZ — May 21, 2026 — Tribal Health, a Pharos Capital Group portfolio company that staffs and manages care for Tribal nations and rural communities, has added telepsychiatry to its behavioral health services. The program connects patients to board-certified psychiatrists and advanced practice registered nurses in places where no psychiatrist practices locally.

The behavioral health workforce shortage reaches every part of American healthcare. Major health systems struggle to staff emergency department consults and inpatient psychiatric units. In Tribal nations and rural counties, where the nearest Indian Health Service clinic or critical access hospital can sit two hours away, consistent mental health care is harder still.

The telepsychiatry program delivers:

• Board-certified psychiatrists and advanced practice registered nurses trained in rural and Tribal care delivery
• Around-the-clock psychiatric care across clinical and private settings
• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other therapeutic modalities
• Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders

On-Call Telepsychiatry

Distance is only one barrier. A two-hour drive for a brief appointment means arranging childcare, taking time off work, and finding a vehicle. In small communities where everyone knows everyone, a patient may hesitate because a neighbor could spot their truck parked outside a therapist's office.

Telepsychiatry removes both barriers at once. Care arrives in the patient's home, privately, and it continues through bad weather or a week without a vehicle. Facilities see fewer missed appointments, and they draw on the service as their patients need it.

Emergency Department Backup

When a patient in psychiatric crisis arrives at an emergency department and no clinician is available to evaluate them, the wait for a consult can stretch from hours into days. Tribal Health's rapid crisis triage connects those patients to psychiatric assessment quickly. The service helps emergency teams stabilize and de-escalate, move patients to the appropriate level of care, keep beds open for medical emergencies, and make sound admission and discharge decisions.
