strategic focus

Dedicated breast MRI imaging for early cancer detection

During the time of our ownership, Aurora Imaging Technology, based in North Andover, MA, developed and manufactured the Aurora 1.5T Dedicated Breast MRI System with Bilateral RODEO, the first and only FDA-cleared MRI system designed specifically for breast imaging. The Aurora System imaged more anatomy with less distortion than conventional MRI systems and allowed for the use of advanced imaging techniques and interventional applications such as biopsies and therapy. The Aurora System enabled major improvements in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer by greatly increasing the ability to detect cancer early in its development and providing radiologists and surgeons with improved pre- and post-operative images. By providing more accurate readings, the Aurora System reduced both the costs and patient anxieties associated with unnecessary biopsies and surgeries. The Aurora System was in clinical use at a growing number of leading breast care centers.

Three Ways to Work with Pharos

Whether you're allocating capital or building a healthcare company, we start with the same question: does this serve the communities that need it most?

Investors

Pharos partners with foundations, family offices, and institutional investors who want competitive returns from healthcare companies serving underserved communities.

Founders & Operators

We invest $25 to $50 million in established, U.S.-based healthcare companies positioned to reduce disparities in underserved communities and scale toward a potentially successful exit. If your company fits that profile, we want to hear from you.

Healthcare Partners

If you are a payor, hospital, health system, or governmental agency that services rural, tribal, or other complex underserved populations, we would welcome the opportunity to share existing solutions we have identified or to use our network to source new solutions for the problems these communities face.
